The Tejano Music Awards are like the Grammy's of Tejano Music. The TMA's were started in 1980. Starting in 1987 Selena was nominated in the Female Vocalist of the Year and Female Entertainer of the Year categories. She dominated the awards even after her tragic death.

2001 "Selena" Lifetime Achievement ~ Abraham Quintanilla III Starting with the 21st Tejano Music Awards, a NEW Award was added to the ceremony in memory of Selena called "THE SELENA LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD". Her brother, A.B. Quintinalla was the first recipient. This Award was presented to him by Texas Governor Rick Perry. |
